Liangmai organizations acknowledge service of LCTC

Imphal, October 17 2020: The efforts of the Liangmai Central Task Committee (LCTC) COVID-19 to ease the suffering of people caused by COVID-19 were acknowledged by Liangmai organizations on Thursday.

Expressing gratitude to the LCTC, Liangmai Naga Council (LNC), Liangmai Pui Naga Ruangdi (LPNR) and Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR) organized a programme christened as "Thank you programme" at Ariang village (Khunkhu Naga village) near Kanglatongbi on October 15 .

The occasion was graced by Awangbow Newmai, Minister for Forest and Environment along with community leaders and social workers.

It can be mentioned here that LNC is the apex body of Liangmai people in Manipur while LPNR is the apex body of Liangmai women and LNKR is the apex students' body of Liangmai people.

Lauding LCTC for their services to the people during this difficult time, the Liangmai organizations said that the committee "is doing an exceptional job in managing this period on behalf of our community and working tirelessly to help those affected by COVID-19" .

The Liangmai bodies further said that the situation would have been much different and unimaginable without the services of the "LCTC in our community" .

The committee was formed with a nerve of urgency to make things easier for people affected by lockdown.

Soon after its formation, the LCTC appointed "nodal officers in every major city in India and started reaching out to people in needs" .

The committee helped people stranded in other parts of the State in returning to their respective villages.

LCTC has been providing "basic amenities" to various quarantine centres.

It also did tremendous work while attending stranded people.

It extended help at quarantine centres by giving awareness about SOP, providing essential materials such as masks, hand sanitizers and some basic food items.

In addition to these, the LCTC also distributed some amount of money to those who stay in various cities across India, the Liangmai bodies said.

The Liangmai organizations also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to "those organizations, societies, families and individuals across the globe who contributed generously in cash and kind for making the task of the committee successful" .

It can also be mentioned here that LCTC COVID-19 consists of 31 members.

Disubou Wijunamai is the convenor, Paul Chawang is the co-convenor, Diphiulungbou Parinmai is the committee secretary.
