IMC Mayor, Smart City Ltd conduct handle bar survey

Imphal, October 17 2020:
In order to boost the non-motorized transport under the Central Government's 'India Cycles4Change Challenge', Mayor of Imphal Municipal Corporation L Lokeshwor Singh along with Director of MAHUD Th Harikumar Singh who is also the CEO of Imphal Smart City Limited and other officials from Imphal Smart City Ltd and Traffic Control Police, Imphal conducted handle bar survey for the routes where a pilot cycle route is being proposed under the challenge.
According to a release of Imphal Smart City Ltd, the survey aims to collect feedback from different groups of citizen to understand the pain points from a cyclist perspective and further plan to improve the existing conditions.

The India Cycles4Change Challenge is being organized by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, where Imphal is also one of the participating city along with 95 other smart cities of the country, to select 11 winning cities.
The winner cities will be awarded a sum of one crore each to improve the cycling-condition in the city.
The India Programme of the Institute for Transportation and Development policy (ITDP) is the knowledge partner of the Smart Cities Mission in conducting this challenge and guiding cities through it.
Through this challenge, the registered cities will implement quick interventions to create a safe and cycling-friendly city.
To ensure this transformation, Imphal is committed to working with its citizens as it develops and implements the proposals, the release said.
Along with more than 120 citizen volunteers and cyclists, Bicycle Mayor of Manipur, Dr Sanjib Singh Nepram and RK Sanajaoba Singh, president, Manipur Adventure and Mountant Biking Association (MAMBA) participated the survey.
