Imphal, October 17 2020:
COVID-19 testing kits are reportedly running low at RIMS and JNIMS where maximum number of tests are done on daily basis.
A well placed source informed that with the existing stocks of COVID-19 testing kits depleting fast at RIMS and JNIMS, authorities concerned have stopped sending samples from other districts to the two hospitals.
The testing kits were provided by ICMR and the Health Department.
According to information received from the Health Department, the testing kits are supplied by the Central Government.
RIMS and JNIMS are now facing shortage of testing kits as no fresh supply has been received.
The department has been working to buy COVID-19 testing kits but it will take some time in completing the tender process.
Meanwhile, Advisor (Health) to Chief Minister, Dr Sapam Ranjan held a meeting with RIMS and JNIMS officials at RIMS this evening and deliberated on the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting discussed about raising the number of COVID bed at both the hospital and also on treatment of COVID-19 patients under the supervision of specialist doctors.
