Rainforest Club refutes rumour of illegal killing of animals in Tamenglong

Refuting the rumour that illegal killing of domesticated and other wild animals for consumption is openly practises in Tamenglong Bazar and its adjacent area, Rainforest Club Tamenglong has appealed all to refrain from spreading such unfounded news in future.
In this regard, a press release issued by the club stated, "despite the fact that some people may still discreetly consume prohibited meats in their homes, there is no wild meat market (s) nor has there been a supply and order for birds and animals at any point of time".
Asserting that the people of the district also do not roam openly with guns and several men from majority of the villages have surrendered their airguns in support of the Wildlife and Environment protection since 2014 in consequence of the Amur Falcon conservation drive in the Tamenglong district, it continued that depicting the district's populace in this way is discriminatory.
Tamenglong is considered one of the best amongst the hill districts of Manipur in conservation and protection of wild animals, it said adding that some groups are running wildlife trade in the district are also false and baseless.
