ATM skimming case: One remanded in judicial custody, two formally arrested

One individual was remanded in judicial custody while two others were sent to two days police remand in connection with ATM skimming, by CJM Imphal West today.
Sanjay Kumar (35) s/o Chandra Singh of Sultanpuri, Nithari, Delhi, Krishan Rana (29) s/o Rajbir of Bhiwani, Haryana and Ashok Kumar (38) s/o Balbir of Sultanpuri, Delhi, were produced before the Court following the completion of police remand, by a team of Cyber Crime Police Station, along with a prayer for remanding them in judicial custody, which the Court granted.
As such, the trio was remanded to judicial custody till March 20.In the meantime, another team of CCPS filed an application for arresting Sanjay Kumar and Ashok Kumar in connection with another FIR case.
The IO of the second case explained that on August 31, 2018, a complaint was lodged by one Sagolshem Tombi of Langthabal Mantrikhong, claiming that he went to Guwahati for treatment and there, his son withdrew Rs 2000 from an ATM located at FBL Guwahati.
On August 30, back at his residence, he received an SMS showing that Rs 78,000 had been withdrawn from his wife's account.
The IO continued that while recording the statements of accused individuals in connection with the previous case and upon analysis of CCTV footage received in November 2018, it was found that Sanjay Kumar and Ashok Kumar were involved in skimming at the SBI ATM at Kamakhya Gate on August 30, 2018, and prayed for their formal arrest.
The Court, satisfied with the prayer, remanded the two individuals to two days police custody.
