Following the images of a patient being brought to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, going viral on social media sites, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital has filed a complaint to Imphal West Police to take down the images.
The complaint came amidst the rumour spreading on social media sites like Facebook that a 'suspected/confirmed' coronavirus patient is being brought and treated at the RIMS hospital.
Stating that the patient from Assam's Nagaon district is not a confirmed case of coronavirus, Medical Superintendent, Ch Arunkumar Singh in his complaint noted that the patient was brought to the hospital's isolation ward by a dedicated ambulance from Imphal airport at around 2.30 pm today with a complaint of fever and loose motion.
He has a history of coming from Dhaka and landing at Kolkata airport on February 28 .
He was brought in for investigation and samples collected.
RIMS doctors are doing all their best to take care of the patient including investigation and treatment, the complaint said maintaining that there is no need for the public to panic.
