Inferno ravages shop at Khabam Lamkhai

Grocery and household items as well as cash inside a shop located at Khabam Lamkhai in Imphal East district has been destroyed beyond redemption after a fire broke out late last night.
Reports culled from the incident spot suggest that the inferno occurred at around 11.30 pm with electric short circuit suspected to be the cause of the fire.
As the grocery shop was a concrete building no substantial damage was caused to the structure even though all the good kept inside it have been reduced to cinders.
It is said that Manipur Fire Service personnel doused the fire in the wee hours today.
While the shop is run by one Thoudam Abhi (50) the land belongs to one Thokchom Chaoba.
Along with Rs 30,000 cash reportedly kept inside the shop items destroyed in the fire is estimated to about Rs 5 lakh, according to sources.
