'Public participation is a must'

Art & Culture Minister L Jayentakumar Singh has expressed deep concern over the present scenario of art and cultural aspects of the State.
Attending the inaugural function of the 5th All Manipur Folk Drama Festival-2017 organised by Manipur Dramatic Union at MDU Hall at Yaiskul Police Line, Imphal, the Minister expressed his desire to develop and promote the rich cultural heritage of the State.
He said art and culture plays a vital role in a society.
It is also the reflection of our identity, he added.
He also mentioned about the initiatives of the State Government to develop culture and appealed to the public to co-operate with the Government in making the initiative successful.
MDU president A Ksheergopal Singh, Sangeet Natak Academi awardee E Joychandra Singh and Director of Manipuri Ensemble Kshetri Jugindro Singh attended the function the programme as special guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Director DIPR, Manipur Meghachandra Kongbam and many renowned theatre personalities were also present at the function.
The festival is being organised under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, New Delhi.
