Salai to set up power projects in Manipur with Czech turbines

A prominent Czech Republic hydel turbine company, signed a deal with Salai Holdings Pvt Ltd on December 10 for setting up mini power projects in Manipur.
The N Biren Singh led State Government, which encourages local entrepreneurs to shape the industries in the State, has already given a go-ahead signal to Salai to take up the challenging smart hydel project.
Mavel, the turbine manufacturer, which instals its machines in over fifty countries (including the US), will give logistic support to Salai in setting up the power projects in Manipur.
Salai will kick off its maiden venture at Sekmai barrage, in Imphal West, as a pilot project.
"Ours willbe an environmental friendly project as we will only fix the turbine at the water spillway to generate power,"said Narengbam Samarjit, Chairman and Managing Directo r of Salai.
Salai strongly feels that once the power project is set up, the State's economy will improve cons idering the low cost of the energy its new project is going to generate.
"Once our project gets underway, we will follow suit in other n inning dams in Manipur and elsewhere in the North East," said Samarjit.
In recognition of his unrelenting efforts in shaping Salai on all business fronts, Samarjit,has received a series of global awards.
Samarjit, who headend a team of the firm's board of directors and other execut ives to Prague to finalise the deal, said that they are attempting to sell the power at a very low rate.
Mavel executives said their company had bagge d a prestigious environm ent award in recognition of its smart system in generating power through their turbines.
