XVI Manipur Veteran Cricket : CHAMP thrash Model Club by 43 runs, NAPSA romp to 7 wicket victory

CHAMP, Khagempalli posted their first win in the XVI Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament, 2018 today sealing a huge 43 run against Model Club, Chingamakha at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
CHAMP which won the toss posted a total of 180 runs in 30 overs for the loss of 4 wickets after opting to bat first.
Gulsonanda (58 off 55 balls) and Ibobi (52 off 67 balls) were at their best today as both managed half centuries in this innings while Jodiba and Rajiv added 16 and 15 runs respectively.
Model Club's Saratchandra was able to pick up 4 wickets in this innings while Sikandar claimed a single.
In reply, Model Club could manage only 137 runs for all wickets down in 29.5 overs to go down by 43 runs to the Khagempalli side.
Suresh (28), Priyobarta (27) and Demin (17) were the notable batsmen for Model Club in this innings as Homeshwor and Ratan of CHAMP ran through their batting line taking 3 wickets each.
Premananda of CHAMP also had two wickets in his name and helped considerably in holding the Model Club charge.
Gulsonanda, the highest scorer of CHAMP was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere, NAPSA were able to notch up a huge 7 wicket win over DSU in another match staged today at Langthabal Public Ground.
DSU who won the toss and elected to bat first could not do well as they bundled out with 84 runs on the scoreboard in 23.3 overs.
Romesh (17) and Amarjit (12) were the notable players for DSU in this innings while the other player failed to post double digit scores.
Mahesh of NAPSA was the leading wicket taker in this innings as he picked up 3 wickets and restricted DSU from gaining momentum.
The chase was quick for NAPSA as Somorendro shone in batting making a score of 55 runs in 52 balls while Simon assisted him on the pitch contributing 15 runs off 16 balls and put NAPSA to a sniffing distance of a win.
NAPSA soon reach the target in 16.2 overs with 7 wickets to spare.
Tombi of DSU had his name on the scoresheet for taking two wickets in this innings.
Eventually, Somorendro of NAPSA was adjudged man of the match.
