Primary Health Centre inaugurated at Khumbong

Chairman of Tourism Corporation of Manipur Ltd and MLA of Konthoujam AC Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh has inaugurated a newly constructed Primary Health Centre Building and Barrack Type Quarter at Khumbong today.
The inaugural function was organised by National Health Mission, Manipur and Directorate ofHealth Services.
Dr S Manikanta Singh, State Mission Director, National Health Mission, Manipur, Dr K Rajo Singh, Director of Health Services Manipur,' Dr N Nonibala, MO in charge and Md Daulat Khan, SDO Patsoi and BDO Imphal West attended the event as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, Dr Rajo said that the construction of the over Rs 1 crore main building of new PHC was started during the year 2015-16.Construction of the Rs 75 lakh barrack type quarter was started in the year 2012, he said.
Chief guest of the inaugural function Dr S Ranjan said that the present Government is giving priority to health sector for the welfare of the people.
The Government alone cannot facilitate effective functioning of the PHC, people have to co-operate and extend their support to the doctors, nurses and staffs, he said.
He urged doctors and staffs of the PHC to be sincere and work with dedication for the welfare of the locals.
Health care employees and staffs including the doctors and nurses have intrinsic roles to play in realising the aspiration of the people and Government, he added.
Improving healthcare services at grass root level is very crucial, he said and continued that the State has been awarded many times at National level for having lowest infant mortality rate in the country.
Saying that most of the PHCs have been converted into Community Health Centre (CHC) for more coverage and better health service facilities, he acknowledged that there is a shortage of staffs in almost all the PHCs and CHCs.
Dr S Manikanta appealed the staff of newly inaugurated PHC to stay at the barrack type quarter for better services and urged the locals to extend co-operation to the staffs.
