Imphal, April 08 2022:
The Protection and Preservation Committee, Manipur (PPCM) has come out strongly against the increase in prices of all essential goods in the State.
In a statement, PPCM appealed to the State Government to send officials of relevant departments to market places, shops etc and to carry out inspection of the prices, quality and weight of goods on sale.
The statement added that due to lack of Government supervision in the matter, shopkeepers, businessmen and the like fix prices of essential goods according to their wish, which in turn, greatly affects the public.
PPCM also mentioned the increasing prices of medicines and urged the Government to take up measures to resolve the matter.
The increase in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas has also caused the people a lot of distress and continues to impact the daily lives of all citizens, the statement added.
PPCM also appealed to the Government for a reduction in taxes imposed on the people.
Lastly, PPCM called for the people's support in future activities of the organisation on matters relating to consumer rights.
