Imphal, October 05 2018:
Twelve individuals of the Manipur University community who have been lodged in Sajiwa Central Jail since September 21, failed to appear before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today after the jail authority failed to make arrangements for necessary escort vehicles and prisoner vans to transport them up to Cheirap Court complex.
According to a reliable source, the jail authority failed to produce the 12 individuals before the Court and cited non availability of escort vehicles and prisoner vans for carrying the arrested individuals, as the reason for their absence before the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
As such, the Court asked the authority concerned to produce them on October 19 instead.
Surprisingly other Under Trial Prisoners (UTP) whose case were listed before other Courts located at the complex, were seen being transported to the complex from Sajiwa Central Jail in prisoner vans.
