JAC set to launch severe stir over 7th pay

Imphal, February 05 2018: Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) is all set to launch severe agitations in case the Government fails to take a decisive stand in the ongoing Assembly session on implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations in Toto for the Government employees.

Addressing a press conference at its Babupara office today, JAC president Khaidem Mani said that a 22-point charter of demands for implementation of 7th pay commission was submitted to the Government in 2016.He reiterated that 7th pay commission had already been implemented in most of the State and the same is going to be implemented in Tripura soon.

He said that deprivation of 7th pay commission amounts to violation of fundamental rights.

He observed that implementation of 7th pay commission in the State would enhance work culture amongst the Government employees and increase their efficiency.

He said that the JAC had met the Chief Minister thrice followed by the Chief Secretary and Finance Secretary on October 26, 2016 wherein the Secretaries asked to give three months' time to form a commission to look into the demand.

The JAC again met the Chief Secretary in first week of January wherein the latter told that process for forming the commission is on, he said.

If the Government fails to take a stand on the 22-ppint charter of demands in the ongoing Assembly session then Government employees will convene a general body meeting.

Several strong resolutions will be adopted in the meeting and based on the resolutions a memorandum will be submitted to the Prime Minister, Khaidem Mani continued.

He added the JAC does not want to break the laid-out democratic norms in meeting the demand.
