Kanggui Ward Tourney Vengthah Ward No 3 emerge men's, women's volleyball champs

Scripting record in Kanggui Inter Ward Tourney, Vengthah Ward No.3, Kanggui men and women volleyball teams emerge champions in volleyball competition of the ongoing 14th Kanggui Inter Ward Tournament here today.
The closing ceremony of the Volleyball Competition organized as part of the ongoing Kanggui Inter Ward Tournament which began since January 25 was nobly graced by Lalminlen Misao, MPS, Addl SP Ukhrul, a resident of Vengthah Ward No.3 at Sports Complex, Kangpokpi DHQs.
In men's category, Vengthah Ward No.3 and Ward No.6 played the final match which was won by Vengthah Ward No.3 in three straight sets while in women's category Vengthah Ward No.3(B) smashed down Ward No.2(A) in four sets to claim the Women's Volleyball Champions trophy for the first time ever since the introduction of Kanggui Inter Ward tourney.
Motivating the volleyball finalists during the closing ceremony, Lalminlen Misao, MPS, Addl SP Ukhrul said that sports events sought to showcase the collective talent of the participants rather than only recognizing winners.
He alos said that winners exist because someone dared to stand up and lose.
He continued that sports competitions fill us with enthusiasm which is a vital change in the cycle of routines inspiring both the participants and spectators while educating us how to work in harmony with other people, exert whenever necessary, accept defeats with equal ease and work as a consolidated unit.
The MPS officer further said that those who could not script victory on this occasion should not be disappointed rather we need to remember that the winner is not twice as much better than a runners up and wish all the participants to continue to strive for excellence in the discipline.
In today's football last league round, Ward 8 (A) and Ward No.Ward 13 were held to a 2-2 draw in the first match.
Songpu of Ward No.8(A) struck twice in the 2nd minute and 45th minute while equalizer from the Ward No.13 came through Thangvanglen and Lunkhogin in the 7th minute and 54th minute respectively.
Ward No.13 Thanggoulal and Ward No.8(A) Manggou were booked yellow cards for their respective serious fouls in the 41st and 53th minutes.
In the second match, Ward No.1(A) overwhelmed Ward No.1 team 3-1 to emerge as Group A leaders while culminating the journey of Ward No.11 in the tournament.
Paji's side Ward No.1(A) found the opener through Kevin in the 43rd minutes while Seigou and Paji added one goal each in the 44th minute and 60th minute respectively.
Ward No.11 pulled back a goal in the 46th minute through Sasang.
Ward No.1(A) and Vengthah Ward No.3(A) emerge group winners and runners up of Group A with 15 and 12 points respectively while Ward Mo.
17 and Ward No.9 as winners and runners up of Group B with 12 and 9 points respectively.
Ward No.8 (A) with 15 points +15 GD and Ward No.2(A) with 15 points and +14GD emerge winners and runners up of Group C and Ward No.4 (A) and Ward No.6 as winners and runners up of Group D with 10 and 8 points respectively.
Tomorrow, Ward No.17 and Ward No.6 will play in the first quarter final match at 12 noon while Ward No.8 (A) will lock horns with Vengthah Ward No.3 (A) in the second quarter final match at 2.30 pm.
