Imphal, September 30 2018:
The Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has asked the State Government to pull out all the security personnel currently deployed inside MU campus at the earliest.
It is time for all stake holders to ponder on initiation of admission process for new sessions while many exams are yet to be completed, said a press release issued by MUSU president M Dayaman.
Saying that Prof K Yugindro and Prof M Shyamkesho have started issuing certificates, MUSU questioned whether these certificates signed by them would be valid or not.
It alleged that Prof Yugindro and Prof Shyamkesho have started running the university at their whims and fancies without paying any heed to the hunger strike being undertaken by girl students of the university.
Many of the girl students who are on hunger strike have been hospitalised as they have grown extremely weak, it conveyed.
Even as the girl students have been staging hunger strike for the past several days after the infamous police crackdown at MU in the intervening night of September 20 and 21, police have been still searching for MU students and other students to put them behind bars, it decried.
It also denounced the arrest and imprisonment of many students and teachers.
It appears that Prof Yugindro and Prof Shyamkesho do not know whether their appointments are legal or not, MUSU alleged.
It then pointed out that Prof Yugindro was appointed as Pro-VC by Prof Pandey while he was on leave in total contravention of all relevant rules.
MUSU further alleged that the brutal police crackdown inside MU campus in the midnight of September 20 which went on till the next morning was carried out by the State Government in collusion with the Ministry of Human Resource Development just to protect Prof AP Pandey.
