World Health Day : Diabetes detection and health check up held for IMC sanitation workers

The Lions Club of Imphal Valley and Lions Clubs International District 322-D organised a 'Diabetes Detection and Health Check Up' for the sanitary workers of Imphal Municipal Corporation this morning at IMC Campus.
The health camp was conducted in observance of World Health Day and based on the idea of 'One Multiple One Activity' .
Speaking on the occasion, Dr N Romi Singh, administrator, Lions Club of Imphal Valley and Region Chairperson pointed out the key role played by IMC workers in maintaining cleanliness in Imphal city.
He maintained that for sanitation workers to continue their service to society it is imperative to ensure that they enjoy and maintain good health.

As such, the health check up camp was organised with the support of IMC for early detection of diabetes and to take precaution against the disease.
Kicking off the health camp, IMC Commissioner K Chandrakumar expressed his gratitude towards Lions Club of Imphal Valley and Lions Clubs International District 322-D for organising the health check up camp for the benefit of IMC sanitation workers.
He stated that sanitation workers employed by the IMC who are involved in handling of garbage, trash and other such waste materials are supposed to undergo a health check up after every two or three months to detect any health issues.
However, due to certain inconveniences, IMC was unable to organise such health check ups in a timely manner in the past.
He opined that the health check up camp organised by Lions Club will prove to be very beneficial to the IMC sanitation workers in maintaining their good health.
Today's health checkup up camp was also attended by IMC Mayor L Lokeshwar, many high ranking officials of IMC and numerous sanitation workers.
