Imphal, March 01 2016:
Asserting that it was not involved in the killing of Thongkhogin Haokip, an assistant teacher at Molnom village, the ministry of publicity, NSCN/GPRN has expressed dissatisfaction over the manner in which the name of NSCN-IM has been dragged in into every unwanted incident without authenticating the facts.
Such sinister design to tarnish the image of NSCN-IM and to jeopardize the tribals' solidarity must be stopped once and for all, MIP-NSCN/GPRN said in a statement.
Conveying solidarity to the bereaved family members of late Thongkhogin the outfit urged the Kuki Inpi and KSO to maintain maturity while dealing with the incident by not dragging in the name of the NSCN-IM.
In the meantime, the deputy kilonser of Khurmi Region GPRN has clarified that NSCN-IM is neither involved nor has anything to do with the death of late Thongkhogin Haokip.
Peace talk between the GPRN and the Central Government is underway and GPRN has been abiding by the ground rules of the ceasefire.
Therefore, to commit such an act is way below the dignity of NSCN-IM, the deputy kilonser said in a statement.
NSCN-IM was never involved in the incident nor collaborated with the Assam Rifles as alleged.
Primary duty of the security forces is to protect the common people irrespective of tribes and regions.
However, setting up one group of people against another and causing the villagers to flee for their lives are condemnable, the statement said.
History is the living testimony and it has proved that Aimol tribe is a Naga tribe since time immemorial.
Their decision to stand as Nagas is rightful.
It is unfortunate that ADC Member D Chanthoi, with vested interest, has projected Aimol tribe as a neutral tribe thus creating unwanted controversy in the neighbouring.
D Chanthoi should never forget his origin, the deputy kilonser said.
The statement also advised the UKLF not to indulge in tribalism among the indigenous people of the region and added that peace will prevail only when one's identity is respected.
