Pulse Polio Immunisation prog begins

Imphal, January 29 2017:
The Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation programme began here in the State today under the aegis of the Social Welfare Services and State Health Society Manipur.
Family Welfare Services Director Dr K Rajo who attended the inaugural programme as the chief guest said, Polio is preventable by polio vaccine.
However, once a child gets infected there is no specific treatment.

Eradication of polio will requires participation by parents, guardians, officials and related authorities.
A number of doses are required for the polio vaccine to be effective, he stated while urging parents and guardians of the all the children to vaccinate their children in time.
3565 officials are undertaking the task to vaccinate a target of 3,58,000 children with over 14,000 vaccinators under the supervision of 7017 supervisors, Rajo said.
Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation programme was launched at the premises of the Family Welfare Services, Manipur.
