Street vendors protest continues

Along with taking out a protest, members of Khwairamband Bazar Women Vendors Yaipha Lup today submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur exerting pressure for reviewing the Cabinet decision of shifting the street vendors to Lamphelpat.
The women vendors started rallying from behind Mapal Kangjeibung and proceeded hastily towards the Raj Bhavan.
Just after crossing Johnstone School, some police personnel tried to stop them.
But the women vendors managed to move ahead till the gate of Raj Bhavan without any interference.
However, not long after that, a reinforcement of State Police including top ranking officers rushed in and herded off the protestors from the gate of the Raj Bhavan.
Nonetheless, some of the representatives were allowed to go and submit the memorandum to the Governor.

Meanwhile, Khwairamband Keithel Street Vendors' Co-ordinating Committee has demanded that the Cabinet decision on shifting the street vendors should be revoked.
