Documents related with Ereibak daily, hard disk seized

A team of the NIA (National Investigation Agency) today conducted a raid at the office of the Lamyanba Publication Trust housed together with Lamyanba Pakhang and where the Manipuri local daily, Ereibak, is also published.
The raid spread over six and a half hours.
The raid, which began at 9.50 am to 4.30 pm, was conducted by a New Delhi NIA team led by SP, Shyam Prakash Pani after cordoning the office complex by CRPF personnel.
Two representatives of the office of the Accountant General (Audit), Senior Accountant M Rajendra and Auditor H Phentom Singh were took part as witnesses in the raid which was assisted by a team of Imphal West Police commandos led by DSP,
S Ibocha.
The other members of the NIA team included Deputy SP Devinder Singh and SI Md Salauddin of New Delhi.
The search was conducted as part of an investigation into NIA case no 10/201, an FIR case registered with the NIA in connection with the arrest of UNLF chairman RK Meghen and 18 other members of the outfit.
The NIA team checked files and data fitted in the computers of the media house and hard documents in the office.
They also interrogated, Manager, Lamyanba Publication Trust, Taorem Mangi, if any works related with accounting and printing of leaflets and press releases of the outlawed outfit were done by the publication house.
The NIA team seized a bunch of papers containing audit reports for the years from 2007 to 2011, annual statement for the period ending March 31, 2011, papers regarding issue of IsBN numbers for the publishing agency, certificate of registration order of SDO Imphal, Porompat, meeting notices, photocopy of gift deed bearing registration no.23947180 having pages 1 to 73 .
One hard disk of a Samsung model computer, no.HD503HI of 500GB, HDDP/N-HD503HI (3545 written) and a diary of 2003 containing 162 pages were obtained, according to a seizure list provided by the NIA team, the terms of which is needed under the provision of section 100(6) or 165 of Criminal Procedure Code.
However, no arrest of any persons of the printing press was made during the raid.
The NIA team arrived on Monday in connection with investigation into the NIA case 10/201.Earlier, they had conducted another office an NGO located in Imphal, source said.
Sources said that the NIA team conducted the raids as part of its investigation into the case filed by the agency against 19 members of the proscribed UNLF including its chairman RK Meghen, "arrested" by them from Bihar's Motihari district.
The agency had, on February 15, filed a charge-sheet of the case against the 19 members of the banned UNLF in the Special Court of NIA, Guwahati.
The charge-sheet was related with their involvement in waging war against the country, raising funds by resorting to large scale extortion from Government as well as private bodies in Manipur and for trying to procure arms and ammunition from foreign countries in FIR no 10/10 under sections 120(B), read with sections 121, 121(A),122 of IPC ,16, 17, 18,18A, 18B and 20 of UA(P) Act,1967 as amended in 2008 .
