'Systematic approach needed for quality education'

Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh has said that systematic approach in teaching and learning is very much important in bringing about quality education in the State.
Addressing the inaugural session of the four-day long National Mathematics Day celebration at Indoor Stadium, Oriental College, Takyelpat today, Deputy Chief Minister said, "Three basic steps � learning, understanding and application are necessary to bring quality education.
Applying such approach will definitely help the students to remember what they had learned" .
Acknowledging the importance of organising National Mathematics Day, the Deputy Chief Minister said that such programme would bring a change in the mind-sets particularly of budding talents and help them to acknowledge the importance of mathematics.
Deputy Chief Minister along with other dignitaries also inspected the mathematics models displayed as a part of the observance.
A series of programmes will be also organised during the four-day long celebration.
The programme is jointly organised by MASTEC and Department of Mathematics, Oriental College (Autonomous), Imphal.
Around 400 students from various institutions across the State are taking part in various competitions.
Secretary (Science and technology) H Gyanprakash Singh, Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) Director Th Surendranath and Dean of School of Science, Oriental College Th Devendra were also present at the programme.
