Along with retired journalist Kangujam Madhumangol, two other noted personalities have been honoured by Kasturba Gandhi Kendra, Imphal today.
The felicitation function organised in connection with 5th foundation day of Kasturba Gandhi Kendra, Imphal was held at State Museum complex here.
The Kendra has been honouring three selected personalities every year on the occasion of its foundation day.
Madhumangol was among the three personalities selected for the honour this year.
The other two honoree are Manipuri Nat Sanskirtan exponent Elangbam Joychandra Singh and potter Naorem Nilamani Devi.
Former editor of Prajatantra and ISTV News Network, Kangujam Modhumangol retired after 30 years of working in the field of journalism recently.
A resident of Kakwa Lamdaibung, he had been earlier decorated with many awards.
A resident of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai, Elangbam Joychandra has created a niche for himself in the field of Manipuri Nat Sanskirtan for the last 40 to 50 years.
He is also a pioneer of Manipuri theatre movement.
Born in Thongjao Village of Thoubal district, potter Naorem Nilamani Devi has been working in the field of pottery since 1938 and contributing to the society through her various pottery designs and art work.
In recognition of their contribution to their society through their respective works, the three personalities were honoured with simple gifts.
The felicitation function was attended by former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam as chief guest, Chairman of KGK Imphal Kh Momon Singh as president and Curator of State Museum Dr L Dhanapati Devi and Padmashree Laishram Nabakishore who is also the Dr Ambedkar Awardee, 2007 as guests of honour.
