Properties worth over Rs 1 lakh have been reportedly gutted in a fire that broke out from a room in the third floor of a four-storeyed rented building in Paona Bazar, Imphal at around 5 pm today.
A youth who tried to put off the burning inferno sustained burnt injuries in the incident.
According to information received from the site of the incident, the fire had broke out from the room in the third floor of the building rented out one Ganesh of Bihar.
The owner of the building is said to be one Kangabam Chandra of Kangabam Leikai.
The youth who sustained burnt injuries while battling the fire has been identified as LK Hmar (24) s/o Hason of Paona Bazar.
On hearing the news of the fire, personnel of Fire Services rushed in to douse the fire and prevent it from spreading to other rooms and buildings.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
However, all the furniture items and clothings kept in the room have been reportedly gutted in the fire.
The monetary value of the loss in the fire is estimated to be over Rs 1 lakh.
