Imphal, October 31:
A meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee was held at New Delhi today to seek the opinions of the officials of the North East States on the issue of Office of Profit.
During the course of the meeting, the State Legislatures who participated in the meeting suggested for enactment of relevant Acts on the issue by the State Governments concerned themselves instead of the proposed uniform Central Act and entrust the States concerned to decide what are the areas which should come under the purview of Office of Profit or not, according to a reliable source.
An official team of the State Govt led by Additional Chief Secretary Saichuana attended the meeting.
