Imphal, October 31:
The proscribed outfit Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) has lifted the ban imposed on celebration of Kut festival, 2007 by explaining that its late leader Pu Letkholun was compelled to interfere in the conduct of the festival with a desire to counter certain sinister designs, however, now the elements have already been neutralised.
So in view of the fact that Kut is the only active agency that keeps alive the sense of kindred and solidarity amongst the Kuki-Chin-Mizo-Zomi group, KLA has decided to lift the ban, information and publicity secretary of KLO/KLA Malsawm Kuki said in a statement.
In view of this clarification, the Kut Committee which is the legal and appropriate authority should conduct the festival without any impediment and interference, the statement said, adding that Kuki Mothers' Association has no role to play in this regard.
As a member of UPF, KLA will see to it that the uncalled for interference from any quarters is obviated and neutralised, he added.
Taking serious note of the press statement issued on October 22 by misusing name of the outfit by some elements who have deserted the outfit after killing the leader and now have become a part of KNO, KLA has also informed all its cadres who have earlier strayed away under some circumstances to report back to its Zion camp at the earliest.
