Terming the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO)'s resentment over the appointment of Y.Joykumar Singh, IPS as Director General of Police (DGP) of Manipur superseding senior IPS officer C.Peter Ngahanyui, as an awakening moment, the All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) today said that the the continuing discrimination against the tribal community by the State Government will lead to nowhere accept prove detrimental to the State as a whole.
ANSAM also termed the the KSO's press note of October 27 as a bold step which expressed a genuine concern for the whole tribal populace in the State.
Further lauding the KSO, the Naga students said that the "truth spoken out" by the Kuki students body was "a giant leap" for the tribal community in the State.
The student body alleged that the general discrimination meted out against the tribal people of the State by the Manipur Government amounts to "racial discrimination and subjugation".
It further alleged that just because C Peter, IPS is a tribal the Manipur Government refused to give the IPS officer his due.
The Naga students claimed that C Peter is senior to Y Joykumar Singh but the latter has been given the charge of the topmost police post of the State.
