Imphal, January 20 2016:
Among other measures to enhance LPG supply in the State, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has taken up steps to give priority loading to Manipur bound LPG tankers at LPG loading locations outside the State.
According to a source from the State Level Coordinator of IOC based in Imphal, LPG bullet tankers from the State have been given priority loading at LPG loading stations in Assam.
LPG loading centres in Assam include NRL, Guwahati and Numaligarh.
Priority loading to State bound LPG bullet tankers has
been already started at these locations, the source said.
The step has been taken up after Executive Director of Indian Oil, AOD State Office, Guwahati, Depanka Roy recently met State CAF&PD Minister, Chief Secretary and other top officials of the State here.
State bullet tankers have been loaded on priority basis at the loading locations so that the tankers reach the gas bottling plant at Sekmai with CRPF escort on daily basis without any interruption.
This will facilitate timely delivery of LPG to the consumers, the source said.
The source further said that 61 loaded LPG tankers are currently heading to the State from different LPG loading locations in Assam.
General secretary of All Manipur LPG Bullet Transporters' Association has been informed through phone to ensure that these tankers do not miss the daily CRPF escorts, the official said.
Executive Director of Indian Oil, AOD State Office, Guwahati, Depanka Roy is closely monitoring the loading and movement of loaded and empty LPG tankers of the State, the source added.
Meanwhile, a gentleman from Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai has today asked The Sangai Express if it had any connection with the alleged collection of 'registration fee' in the locality for 'LPG maintenance and care services' .
In this regard, the TSE would like to put the record straight that the paper has not collaborated with anyone.
The drive taken out by the TSE is to mitigate, if not do away with, the problem faced by the people of the State due to LPG shortage for various reasons.
