Imphal, May 14 2017:
New Keithelmanbi Areas Chiefs' Association (NKACA) has today stated that the statement issued by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) against the proposed resettlement programme is rather unfortunate.
NKACA is a body formed long ago by groups of different village chiefs including Kuki and Naga whose villages are recognised and published in the official gazette of the State Government with an objective to thwart any kind of communal tension between Kuki and Naga which had occurred in the past, NKACA said in a statement.
The State Government has till now failed to step into the matter and resolve the same thereby NKACA was compelled to take up the initiative in the interest of peace and harmony, it said.
RNCM should refrain from propagating communalism by issuing statements in newspapers.
It is our appeal to all to extend co-operation on resettlement of the five displaced families in the interest of peace, justice and harmony, NKACA said.
In the meantime, Zeliangrong Youth Front has appreciated New Keithelmanbi Areas Chiefs' Association (NKACA) for initiating steps to restore peace and harmony in Namthanjang village in its surrounding.
NKACA's initiative will create positive impact and foster peaceful co-existence among the various communities.
The front will extend support to ensure the proposed resettlement programme is organised on May 15, ZYF said in a statement.
