Reiterating the demand for immediate settlement of Kukis long demand for self-determination with the constitutional framework of India, the Kuki State Demand Committee has today announced a week-long bandh and blockade beginning from Sunday.
Addressing the media, the KSDC spokesperson K Khongsai said only 'media and medical' will be exempted during the bandh.
The three-day long bandh announced by the KSDC will begin on May 12 (Saturday) evening at 6 pm and it will conclude at 6pm of May 15 (Wednesday) .
Immediately upon the culmination of the bandh, a-four-day-long economic blockade will again ensue and that will only conclude on the evening of Saturday next.
K Khongsai noted that all areas dominated by the Kukis will come under the purview of the agitation.
Relating the chronicle behind the formation of the KSDC and the Kuki struggle for self-determination, Khongsai said it was formed to 'pursue GOI to fulfill our long standing rightful and justified demand.' The KSDC has already taken to the streets the demand for creation of a Kuki State last year and had imposed a bandh on the same issue.
