Lamka, May 10 2012:
A sit-in protest demanding immediate upgradation and standardisation of the Churachandpur District Hospital here started today at the hospital premises under the aegis of Churachandpur District Students' Union (CDSU) .
Establishment of a full fledge casualty ward, adequate number of MOs, Specialist Doctors, Technicians and Staffs are some of the demands students have raised.
Besides, the failure to book the culprits of those involved in pilfering CT Scan parts was another demand made by the protestors.
The decision to launch the agitation inside the hospital premises was an outcome of a joint meeting of the CDSU, ZHRF, JPO and the KSO.
"Given that an amount of more than Rs 4 Cr being sanctioned by NEC for infrastructure development and other basic amenities for health care, the concerned administration including the contractor should be made accountable and put to justice for any omission or dereliction of duty,' said a joint memo submitted to the Chief Minister, through the DC, today.
The sit-in, which is said to continue until the government made positive response, may seek other forms of agitation as well in their attempt to draw the Government's attention, according to the CDSU.
