Chadong village awaits govt's intervention

With tensions rising in Chadong village over beating up of a villager by anti-Mapithel Dam protestors the consequent destruction caused to two houses including the house of the village Chief, the intervention of the state government has been sought.
Addressing media persons in this regard at Manipur Press Club today, James Kasar, Village Chief of Chadong village under Ukhrul district, informed that one Job Kasar, member of Village Authority was beaten up by anti Mapithel Dam activists namely Koran Kashung and Nigreiyo Kashung and told him not to take the compensation given by the authority.
In addition to this, two houses including that of Asang Kasara, Finance Secretary of Mapithel Dam Multipurpose Project Displace Villagers Committee were destroyed.

The culprits also took away an amount of Rs2 lakhs meant for purchasing the material components of MGNRGS apart from causing destruction to properties worth around Rs 15 lakhs.
As such tensions erupted between the villagers and anti-dam activists; James Kasar informed and drew the attention of the state government into the matter.
Asang Kasar, who was also present at the press conference, appealed to the state government to take up actions against the anti dam groups.
