Imphal, May 10 2012:
The implementation of the proposed National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) by the Central Government in the states including Manipur will be considered as waging war by the Union government, exclaimed S Umananda, President in-charge, MPP.
Addressing media persons, S Umananda said that the proposed NCTC will also further create problems in the centre-state relationship.
As such Chief Ministers of various states have reacted against it while others have endorsed it.
However, MPP will under no circumstances favour the proposed NCTC and will be always against it.
The introduction of NCTC in the midst of various human rights violations by security forces under the shield of AFSPA is undesirable and inappropriate.
The NCTC cannot be simply implemented by discussing with some high officials and Chief Ministers.
The people of the states should be consulted and their views taken into consideration.
It is an infringement on the subject matters of the state by the Centre which cannot be tolerated at all and the process is out to destroy the unity of the nation in the long run, he added.
MPP also condemned the brutal killing of Richard Loitam and pointed out that such acts of racial discrimination meted out to the people of the North East will certainly have a debilitating impact on the integrity of the nation.
Meanwhile, the party has expressed happiness over the success of Manipuri students in the Civil Service Examination.
