Imphal, May 10 2012:
A signature campaign for re-imposition of Inner Line Permit System kick-started today with titular King of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba as first signatory.
Speaking at the launched of the campaign being initiated by FREINDS, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that the indigenous people of Manipur need to start agitation even more ferocious than the June 18 uprising as the state government is not likely to wake up to the public call for re-imposition of ILP system in Manipur.
He alleged that the state government never takes up any step for the welfare of the people until the public revolted.
If this trend is allowed to be continued, then there will be no future of the state.
The titular king also warned that if the issue of ILP is not brought up in the monsoon session of the Assembly, he will join the fast unto death stir to be launched by Kakchingtabam Birahari.
Sapamcha Jadumani, President, FRIENDS, who was also present on the occasion, said that the organization along with other CSOs of both the hills and the plains are prepared to launch agitation along all the NHs of the state, prohibiting entry of all outsiders, if the government does not re-impose ILP.
