Imphal, May 10 2012:
The proscribed UG group United Revolutionary Front (URF) in a statement today urged the people of the state to oppose the proposed National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) and said that NCTC is another policy of the colonial ruler to suppress public uprising and freedom movement in the NE states.
In such a situation, people of the state should stand united against the proposal, the statement signed by its information and publicity secretary AK Pibarel exhorted.
Pibarel alleged that the present unrest and chaos in the state is the gift of the Indian colonial rule.
It is not created by the people of the state but by the India government in its quest to subdue the people of the state.
However, people of the trouble torn state should not feel disheartened by such threats and stand united for a free Manipur.
With UN and many international bodies denouncing AFSPA and the various crimes carried out by the security forces under the Act, India government is thinking of another policy to replace the AFSPA with which they can continue to oppress the people of the NE India.
India is putting its best efforts to show the revolutionary movement as terrorism.
In order to fulfill its wishes, the security forces are sponsoring many gang groups in the name of revolutionary organisations only to mislead the ongoing freedom movement.
However, people should know that the armed revolution to regain lost freedom is permitted by international law and there is no way to term the ongoing revolutionary movement as terrorism, the statement observed.
It is the time for the people of the state to choose their destiny; whether they should live under the colonial government like a slave or stand against them for a free Manipur with dignity, URF further exhorted.
It also praised the statement of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who stood against the NCTC stating that his people cannot accept the NCTC when they are demanding to withdraw AFSPA from the state.
Moreover, Assam Chief Minister also put forward some preconditions if NCTC is to be implemented in Assam.
Unfortunately, Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi has made it clear that he is a slave to the colonial government by supporting the proposal, it added.
