CM launches Swachh Bharat Mission

On the occasion of the 146th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Chief Minister O Ibobi flagged off a rally in commemoration of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) from GM Hall here at 8.30 am today.
Apart from the Chief Minister, the rally was also participated by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Deputy Speaker Preshow Shimray, Ministers, MPs, Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs, Chief Secretary and other high ranking officials.
The rally was organised to mark completion of one year since the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched all over the country.
Speaking at the occasion , Ibobi stated that Mahatma Gandhi dedicated his life to establish a 'ful and progressive society through non-violent means.
His ideas and principles have been accepted all over the world as the most effective tools for establishing lasting ' on the planet, Ibobi asserted.
He then underscored the importance of inculcating the ideals and principles of Mahatma Gandhi among the younger generations in order to establish a 'ful, progressive and clean Nation.
Self Employment Voluntary Association (SEVA), Manipur observed the 9th International Day of Non-Violence and 146th Gandhi Jayanti at Manipur Press Club today.
All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) president Wangkhemcha Shamjai, All Manipur NGOs Forum and SEVA president Y Surchandra, Director of Prosecution, Ngangom Tejkumar, 'Salai Taret' Editor KB Ingarenba and IRDSO secretary N Nonibala attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion on violence against women and children, N Nonibala said that the rate of domestic violence and rape of women and children is increasing day by day in Manipur and it is not a positive sign.
In his speech, Ngangom Tejkumar urged the public not to indulge in mob justice as it gives lots of hardship to the innocent family members of the culprit.
Wangkhemcha Shamjai said that violence would only lead to enmity and disharmony.
He also urged the gathering to resolve every issue through non-violence.
