The Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East has on Friday remanded a 25 year old man to 15 days judicial custody on the charge of murdering his fianc�e on March 20 .
Accused Khangembam Ashok, s/o Naran Meitei of Soibam Leikai Ahingei Leirak was produced before the Court by a team of Yaingangpokpi Police Station.
The IO of the case submitted that victim Ningthoujam Lanthoibi @ Echan of Tentha Makha Leikai eloped with the accused on March 6 but the family members of the accused did not perform necessary customary practise of "Wa Haidokpa" .
The victim was allegedly shot dead by the accused using his father's license gun on March 20 due to a certain argument.
As per the I0, the accused has accepted the charges levelled against him.
The accused claimed that the victim threatened dire consequences if she is not married to him and from it a verbal altercation arose.
The IO further submitted that the gun along with live and empty cartridge and viscera of the victim have been to the Forensic Science Laboratory at Pangei for investigation.
Hectic effort are underway to ascertain if any third party is involvement in the murder, the IO said.
The Court of perusal of the case record, material produced and after hearing the submission of IO remanded the accused to judicial custody till April 15 .
