KRDYC refutes Chief Engineer's statement

Kongba River Development Youth Committee while refuting the statement made by Manipur State Rural Road Development Chief Engineer Babuchand has linked poor maintenance with the collapse of the retaining wall at Kongba river.
Speaking at a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today, Kongba River Development Youth Committee president A Dhanachandra said the collapsed had more to do with poor quality maintenance rather than the dredging of Kongba river bank.
Mention may be made that Manipur State Rural Road Development Chief Engineer Babuchand had attributed the collapse of Kongba retaining wall with the dredging of the river bank by the locals of Khurai Sajor leikai, Khurai Thongam Leikai and Laishram Leikai.
The Chief engineer had also demanded the locals to bear the responsibility of the collapse.
Rebutting the statement, Dhanachandra said the committee would file a PIL at the High Court against the Chief Engineer regarding the issue.
He further communicated the committee's decision to submit memorandum to the Prime Minister of India, Ministry of RD, Home Ministry, Monitoring Cell PMGSY, PWD Minister and other civil organistaions soon.
