Imphal, December 26 2008:
Observing that there is no rule of law in Manipur even as there is a Government led by Congress, MPP has declared that it will be able to install rule of law and instill sense of security to the people if the party is elected to power.
This was stated by MPP president Dr L Chandramani at the partys 41st foundation day function held today at its office.
Dr Chandramani observed that in accordance to the present political dynamics, the importance of regi- onal political parties has been growing in the country.
Moreover, there is a strong wave of regionalism across the country, he said.
Reiterating its stance to safeguard the unity and territorial integrity of Manipur at all costs, the MPP president sought peoples support in its efforts to bring a revolution in Manipur and to install rule of law in the State.
Had there been no party called MPP in Manipur, the decaying condition of Manipur had been much more worse, said MPP Legislature wing leader O Joy.
Asserting that indigenous Tripuris were render- ed a small minority in their own land for want of a regional party at the right time, Joy claimed that MPP sta-nds to safeguard the geo- graphically tiny and numerically small Manipur and its indigenous people.
He also appealed to all concerned to stop killings and violence in the name of underground groups.
Former Union Minister Th Chaoba exuded that the MPP candidate would certainly emerge victorious in the bye-election to Moirang A/C ahead of the rival Congress candidate.
He went on to say that MPP would be able to grab power from Congress after six months.
Dr Ng Bijoy and Dr I Ibohalbi said that all efforts will be made to frame a new policy for MPP so as to make MPP a force to reckon with and also to bring a major progressive change in Manipur.
CPI BDay: The CPI State unit celebrated its 83rd foundation day at Irabot Bhavan today with its Secretary L Iboyaima presiding the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ph Parijat said that with the establishment of CPI State unit on December 26, 1925, the party started building up movements to oust British rulers from the country.
In their effort to prevent Communist influence in India, British rulers put several youths who believed in communism behind bars and subjected them to severe torture.
However, the conspirary of the British rulers failed to block commu- nist influence and the communist movement in the country, Parijat said.
Rather, the communist movement was growing stronger and now it is a well established political party of the country, he claimed.
Regarding the coalition between CPI and Congress, Parijat said that the alliance is based on one political ideology.
It is not the CPI toeing the line of Congress, he clarified.
During the function, a book written by Thokchom Yaiskul and titled Indiada Communist Party (Ahanba Saruk) was also released by the Health Minister.
Many other leaders of the party also addres- sed the function.
