THE MANIPUR Electricity Employees� Union (MEEU) reiterated its demand for implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission in the employees of the state government stating that the meager salaries they are enjoying has no means to meet with the increasing prices of the essential goods.
The publicity secretary MEEU L Jugeshwor (MEEU) in a statement today said that prices of essential commodities in the state have been increased manifolds as nearly 90% of the essential commodities in the state are imported from outside the state.
Rice is costing Rs 20 to 21 per KG even in the harvesting time.
In such condition, there is no means to survive people with the meagre salary they got.
In the meantime, the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) appealed the state government to implement the Sixth Pay Commission.
In its release, the body stated that peoples in the state are facing a big problem with the rising prices of essential commodities almost of which are imported from outside the state.
