Decks cleared for Moirang AC by poll

Leaving nothing to chance, intense security arrangements have been taken up for the by election to the Moirang Assembly Constituency tomorrow with all the polling stations declared sensitive.
One section of Central para military personnel will be deployed at each polling station.
The by election is a straight contest between the MPP candidate Hemam Bira and the Congress nominee, Mairenbam Prithiviraj.
Talking to The Sangai Express an official from the State Election office said that all polling officials have moved in to their polling stations.
Security personnel have also moved in today.
Five polling officials will be deputed at each of the 37 polling station for the by election tomorrow.
Apart from one section of Central para-military personnel at each polling stations, 6 unarmed security personnel will also be deployed at each of the polling station, said the official further.
Altogether 43 sections of Central para-military forces will be pushed into service for the by election, said the official and added that six sections of the security personnel will guard the Electronic Voting Machines.
About 20 personnel from the State force will be put on ready as a strike force while 14 mobile units have also been readied for the by election.
Moirang Assembly Constituency has a total of 32,059 listed voters.
Voting will start at 7 am and go on till 4 pm.
In case of any need for repoll or adjourned poll, the same will be held on December 29 and the result will be declared on December 30.
Meanwhile the Joint CEO on behalf of the Chief Electoral Officer has issued a notification to the SDO/Returning Officer of Moirang that immediately after the result of the by election is declared, the Returning Officer should send copies of the declaration of result in Form 21-D to the Election Commission, State Chief Electoral Officer, the State Government and to the Secretary of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
