Rural camp held at Makui Naga village

The Department of Social Work, BSW 3rd Semester, Don Bosco College (Autonomous) Maram organised a week-long rural camp at Makui Naga village in Kangpokpi District from September 16-23, 2022 under the theme, "Engage, Experience and Exchange" .
N Siliakbou, village chairman, while encouraging the students to learn and excel, hoisted the flag to open the rural camp on September 16 .
The rural camp was conducted to offer Social Work students a greater awareness of rural living, aid in developing their personal & professional skills, and foster self-development in processes such as decision-making & planning.
During the camp, the campers did Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) utilizing methods such as seasonal calendar, resource mapping, social mapping, pie chart, scoring and ranking.

The campers also hosted a lecture on soft skills at Paragon English High School.
Topics including time management, public speaking, stress management, listening skills, self-confidence, communication skills and problem-solving were covered in the class on soft skills.
Moreover, the participants launched a cleanliness campaign and installed 25 dustbins.
They also planted 100 tree saplings across the village.
The students also gained fieldwork experience by completing activities assigned by the villagers in the field.
The campers prepared night-time events such as Dance night, Musical night, Talent night, and Cultural night in addition to the daytime activities.
Encouraging the campers to continue moving forward with enthusiasm, Ch Daniel, vice-chairman of Makui Naga village, de-hoisted the flag on September 23 .
The rural camp concluded with a blessing from Reverend Mangailakbou.
Assistant Professors in the Department of Social Work at DBC Maram, Dr Nula Bethel and Evergreat Wanglar accompanied and assisted the 36 students during the camp.
