NH-102B construction activities to resume

A joint meeting of representatives of the local administration, NHIDCL and the Chief Association was held at New Lamka, Churachandpur, today.
The construction works on NH-102B, which was halted for a brief period after a standoff over payment of land compensation was discussed at the meeting with TA & Hills Minister, Vungzagin Valte.
It was agreed at the meeting that the construction works will be resumed as soon as possible and pending compensation payment for standing trees, structures and undisputed land will be released by May 22, 2021 .
As agreed at the meeting, resurveyed estimates for structures, standing trees will be recommended for payment of compensation by the District Administration, Churachandpur to NHIDCL by 22nd May, 2021 and process for payment of compensation to packages 3(A), (B) & (C) will be started from the same day.
The chief association also decided to withdraw their agitation with immediate effect as per the agreement.
The NHIDCL also agreed to conduct a survey for expansion of Tidim road from Tuibong bridge to Lanva bridge and submit the final survey to the Government for final decision.
The NH-102B which connects Churachandpur town with neighbouring Mizoram was set for expansion to a double lane under 6 packages with the NHIDCL given the task to carry out the works.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Minister (TA & Hills) Vungzagin Valte, asserted that the Government under the able leadership of N Biren, Chief Minister, is capable of handling the present situation.
He urged the public not to panic but follow the prescribed SOPs to tackle the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the district.
On availability of oxygen in the district, the Minister said that once the pre-requisite constructions are completed, the machine for production of liquid oxygen will be installed and production will start within 60 days.
"Orders are placed for procurement of Machines & Equipment and Vehicles for 6 oxygen plants and Ambulance Project ALS -6 & 12 BLS for purchase of ambulances that are laced with life-saving technologies for 6 Hill districts to fight Covid pandemic" the Minister said.
The ambulances will be deployed for emergency patient transportation in the hill districts, he added.
The Minister further mentioned that after completion, each of the oxygen plants will produce 200 cylinders of liquid oxygen per day.
These plants will ensure a sustained supply of oxygen for all oxygenated and ICU beds.
