Imphal, September 07 2012:
Stating that Kukis should take the lead in following the Biblical virtues of 'forgiving others,' three armed outfits, UKLF, ZDV and KRA (U) have appealed all concerned not to observe Kuki Black Day while also asserting that it would only elongate the memory of the past incidents which could instill ill-will against others in the mind of the younger generation.
'No doubt, the Naga-Kuki clash had done grave damages to both the communities besides creating a huge vacuum between the two communities socially, politically and psychologically even today.
But the time has come to forgive and forget those days of communal clash for future peace, prosperity and cooperation,' said a statement signed by each functionary of the three armed outfits.
Observing the day might not be intended to revive past enmity, but it would infuse ill-feeling into the minds of the younger generation which would indirectly increase the atmosphere of animosity, the statement said.
Preaching the virtues of Biblical teaching, love your neighbour as you love yourself, the joint statement said a true Christian should have a room to forgive others.
Stating that the communities have common ties and bonding, the joint statement further said the time has come to build a stronger, richer and more prosperous society while adding that it is high time the people realised the common future.
