Drug free campaign held

As a part of AMADA's ongoing 'Drug Free Campaign' to create awareness on the harmful implication of substance abuse, an awareness programme was organised today at tera Yengkhom Leirak community hall.
The campaign is being carried out to urge the people abstain from substance abuse during election time with specific focus on the forthcoming 4th General Panchayat elections 2012 .
Today's event is the fourth phase campaign of the anti-drug campaigners and was held with AMADA president M Padamani Leikai, YLDC working president Hijam Ibochouba and YLDC women wing advisor Ak Loidang Leima as the presidium members.
Director (Law & Prosecution) ng Tejkumar deliberated on 'Drug & Domestic Violence', Human Rights Law Network director Meihoubam Rakesh on 'RTI & Rural Development', and JNIMS Staff Nurse H Sorojini Leima on 'Problem to Issue of Drug', CONE executive member S Irananda elaborated on 'Impact of Drug Use in election' .
While ng Tejkumar highlighted increasing cases of domestic violence against the womenfolk by the men under the influence of alcohol/substance abuse, Rakesh Meihoubam prevailed upon the electors to judiciously exercise their democratic rights in electing the right representative of the people rather than compromising their rights for the sake of money or material pleasure.
