Minister's balm to persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs)

Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar distributed monthly pension to the persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs) of Keishamthong A/C for the sixth time in a programme held at his official residence at Babupara today.
The Minister has been providing pension at the rate of Rs 200 per month to 176 PLHAs of his Constituency since March this year, said a press release.
For the month of August, the Minister distributed 5 kgs of rice each to all the beneficiaries in addition to the pension amount.
Under his supervision, the Minister has also set up an organisation christened, Home of Underprivileged Society and Empowerment (HOUSE) to take care the needs of the people living with HIV/AIDS.
Speaking at the occasion, the Minister urged the general public to treat the PLHAs as a normal citizen of the State.
Meanwhile, under the supervision of Health and Family Welfare Minister, Chief Medical Officer Bishnupur and Imphal-Churachandpur Road Bus Owners' and Workers Association jointly organised a one day free health and dental camp at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School today.
Around 2000 people were diagnosed by 29 medical officers and paramedical staff.
Free medicines were also distributed in the camp.
Bishnupur CMO Dr A Ritindramohon Singh said that the camp was organised as a preventive measure to fend off various diseases after the occurrence of flood.
