Protest staged against terrorist activities

"I felt scared when my teacher told me that two students died in a bomb blast at Sangakpham", said Class V student Babina.
The little girl was taking part in a sit-in-protest at Chingamakhong market shed here, staged against terror activities happening in the State.
The protest was jointly organised by Women Action for Development (WAD) and Conflict Widows Forum (COWF) .
Babina added, "My mind was occupied with fear when I returned home from my school with my brother and sister that day" .
"As I told the news to my mom, she asked me not to venture out of our residential complex", Babina said.
Sitting next to Babina, Class III student Angelina said, "I felt so sad on hearing that two girls studying in Class III died in the incident" .
CWOF Bishnupur Convenor Umarani said, at a time when the widows are enduring hardships in the absence of their respective husbands they have to worry about the life and security of their children as well.
WAD Secretary Sobita Mangsatabam while condemning the Sangakpham blast demanded for befitting punishment to the culprits.
COWF Imphal East Convenor Laishram Ranjita said, the two women bodies are against the bomb attacks, bandhs and blockades happening in the State.
Saying that all these violent activities are happening due to the negligence of the State Government Rajita urged the concerned to bring tranquillity.
She also pleaded the Government to curb the price rise which troubles the common people especially the widows.
The protesters set up placards that read as 'Give us a chance to live', 'Harassing or torturing people should be stopped immediately', 'Throwing, keeping bombs should be stopped at once', 'Think and act for the future', 'We want freedom' and 'Do not terrorise innocent people', Let the children live and study in peace' .
