Non Manipuri dupist disappear

A non Manipuri who duped social workers to lure students on the promise to provide educational loans in Engineering, MBA, Hotel Management and other professional courses in the name of a fake NGO called Nehru Peace Foundation, New Delhi has gone traceless.
The fraud Jose Thomas (36) who lured at least 15 students each assuring them of jobs as social worker in the Social Welfare Department with an annual pay package of Rs.3 lakh went traceless from Hotel Imphal today.
Two women, Seril Susan Alex from Bangalore and Chinjukoshi from Kerala accompanied the fraud in the job 'interview' held at Hotel Imphal from July 28 to August 5.They also issued appointment letters as social workers in the Social Worker Department to selected candidates.
Suspicious over the appointment letters, some candidates enquired the Social Worker Department about the job and found that the appointment letters were fakes.
On receiving the information, officials of the department along with Imphal West police met Jose at Hotel Imphal and enquired about documents relating to the genuineness of the New Delhi based NGO.
He told them that the educational loans will be provided by HRD Ministry through SBI, UBI and other scheduled banks and the salary of the social workers will be given by donation money from donors.
He also showed them his ID card issued by the New Delhi based NGO.
However he told reporters that he had made the ID card in a shop at Babupara.
Morever the Voter ID card he produced did not carry the original hologram of ECI which gave rise to suspicions of his true identity.
Suspecting his nature, Joint Director Social Welfare K Sanajaoba lodged a complaint to Imphal Police Station against the fraud.
However police did not respond immediately which resulted to the fleeing of the fraudster.
He fled from the hotel today morning around 6 am leaving behind the two girls.
On questioning the two girls, it was found that the two girls were also a victim of the fraudster who lured them and were appointed as his staff.
They are in the custody of Social Welfare Department.
The department will hand over the girls to their family members.
Police sealed the room of the hotel where the fraud stayed.
President AMSU Suresh told reporters that lack of security measures in the part of the state government is encouraging many fraudsto dupe or traffic innocent youths.
