WB aid for power project

Imphal, August 07 2011:
There is a strong likelihood that a power transmission and distribution networking project in the State may be taken up with the help of World Bank at the estimated cost of Rs 800 crores.
A third party which would monitor the project has already visited Imphal and collected necessary information and data.
A top official of Power Department informed that the power infrastructure project which would be taken up with loan from World Bank may be initiated soon.
Most of the information sought by World Bank have been provided by the State Power Department.
Recently, an official team of the World Bank visited Imphal and conducted a field assessment of the transmission and distribution network of the State.
They were followed by another group, a third party which would monitor execution of the project.
The group has also collected all the necessary data at Imphal .
Power tax collection drive launched some months back would be resumed shortly, informed the official.
