Imphal, August 07 2011:
Except for taking up damage control exercise after some untoward incident, the State Government has failed miserably when it comes to taking up preventive measures to thwart untoward incidents, asserted Prof L Sadananda.
He was speaking at a political conference organised by Singjamei Kendra Trinamool Congress at the residence of Y Khemchand who is preparing to contest the forthcoming Assembly elections from Singjamei AC.
Speaking at the conference held under the theme 'Future Manipur', Prof Sadananda said that law and order situation of Manipur is in total disarray.
Observing that conflicts of all sorts have been plaguing Manipur, Sadananda asserted that the prevailing situation warrants President's Rule.
It's time to work collectively on strengthening the fraternal bond among different communities which appeared to have strained in the recent years.
Talking about corruption, Sadananda said that the menace has infected every department and sector except sports and art and culture.
Politicians have been plunging head on in electoral politics solely based on muscle and money power.
Trinamool Congress State unit vice-president L Lokendro underlined the need to restore harmony and unity among hill people and valley people by undoing the politics of division being witnessed today.
Observing that some unscrupulous elements have been campaigning in the hill districts on the plank of discrimination of hill people by the Government, Lokendro asserted that it is the duty of the people to fight back any move to disturb the integrity of Manipur such as opening of NPF unit in Manipur.
Y Khemchand said that the conference was being organised to deliberate on the administrative failures of the Government and the recent trend of monopolising electoral politics by a few rich people.
